Read, respond, and create! Book & art lovers in grades 3-5 are invited to participate in a fun and unique book club experience!


Discuss the graphic novel El Deafo by Cece Bell, participate in art activities related to the book, and eat yummy snacks. Sign up with a friend! All registrants will also receive a copy of El Deafo to KEEP! Completed art projects will be displayed at the New Children's Museum, at the library, or can be taken home.


At this first meeting, we'll introduce the book and art project, distribute the supplies, read aloud together, and make plans to meet on Saturday, August 20th at 3:30pm to discuss the book and create our final art projects.

Book description: Join Cece on her path to self-realization and empowering confidence as she comes of age as a kid who is deaf in a hearing world. This funny graphic novel about growing up takes an unforgettable turn when a startling discovery leads Cece to re-invent herself as El Deafo!
