Arts Education Connection San Diego Family Art & Literacy Adventures Program

With support from the Dr. Seuss Foundation, Arts Education Connection San Diego is proud to host our free Family Art & Literacy Adventures program. Through this in-person program, families can enjoy storytelling together, create art collaboratively, and get books for their home library. The program is designed for families with children ages 4-12 years old. AECSD is pleased to partner with the San Diego Public Library’s Malcom X branch to offer this program.

April: What’s the Story? Remembering our Family History

What do you learn from the family that has come before you? Join Arts Education Connection San Diego and our partners at the San Diego Public Library’s Malcom X branch for one of our FREE in-person programs that explores the lessons and traditions that comes from being part of a family. Listen to a story about the life of an American hero told by a professional storyteller, make a collage quilt to commemorate a favorite memory, and earn a book to add to your family’s library!

Storytelling: The Gift of Colin Powell, Thursday, April 14th, 4:00-5:00 PM

Listen to AECSD Storyteller Alyce Smith Cooper, also known as the Ancestral Storyteller, as she weaves a tale of service and courage looking at the life of American hero Colin Powell.

Art making: Family Memory Quilts, Tuesday, April 19th, 5:00-6:00 PM
