San Diego Public Library invites you to watch the World Cup on our big screens!
The FIFA Football World Cup is contested every 4 years by the men's and women's national football (soccer) teams of countries. It's the most widely viewed and followed sporting event in the world, held this year in Qatar.
From November 21 to December 14, three SDPL library locations will each broadcast live 17 World Cup matches including the quarter and semifinals during library open hours at the Central, Linda Vista, and Pacific Beach libraries. All matches will begin at 11:00 am.
Design your very own World Cup themed drawstring bag at the Central Library IDEA LAB on November 29 during the USA vs Iran match. Drop in anytime between 11:30 am - 2:00 pm.
The FIFA Women’s World Cup will be in 2023 in Australia and New Zealand. Unlike the men, the US women are the most dominant team in the world. The next men's World Cup in 2026 will be in North America, jointly hosted by the US, Mexico, and Canada.
