Program Description

Event Details

The stories of The Women of the Gaslamp Quarter belong to those women who left their mark on this historic part of the city. In addition to these remarkable women, the jewels of the Gaslamp are its 93 historic buildings which city leaders saved during the 1970s and 1980s. The book is dedicated to the women who lived in the district, those who helped others living in the district, and those who enriched the district.
Anne Hoiberg is President of the Women’s Museum of California, International Museum of Human Rights, and La Jolla Pen Women; she also serves on the board of directors of several nonprofit organizations (e.g., AAUW, San Diego branch). Anne conducts a walking tour, “The Women of the Gaslamp Quarter,” on the third Saturday of every month at 10:30 A.M. At present, her book, Tears of War: Stories of Refugee Women, is being published.
