Event Details
Welcome to the Core Biology Concept Workshop! This is aimed for upper-elementary and middle school students interested in gaining a headstart to high school biology and those passionate about exploring critical biology topics through lab activities modeling biological processes and simulated lab procedures. For ages 10-13.
The Cell and Cell Biology: In this lesson, we will discuss the role of the cell as well as the various functions it carries out to support itself and/or a larger multicellular organism. To do this, we will outline the structures of the cell which enable it to carry out its vital duties. In addition, we will highlight the main differences between prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. Furthermore, we will discuss the process of cell differentiation and its significance in larger biological systems.
About the Presenters:
The Core Biology Concept team is composed of passionate high school students from a variety of STEM clubs at Canyon Crest Academy. Our mission is to introduce middle school students to biology with the help of lab-based activities in natural selection, genetics, and more. Finally, we intend on generating curiosity and developing an enjoyment of learning that can be applied to any future profession.
