You are cordially invited to the San Diego Independent Scholars Lecture at the North University Community Library (8820 Judicial Drive).

This month features: Paul Standal, PhD

This presentation explores how our need for the positive regard of others acts as the currency of connection and attunement. Our need to feel prized, accepted, and worthy, particularly by our primary caregivers, shapes how we see ourselves and our relational rules of the road throughout life. Our need for positive regard provides rules of the road, impacting our behaviors, emotions, values, beliefs, and attitudes and contributing to either our well-being or distress.  Drawing on his 40 years of clinical experience, Dr. Paul Standal will illuminate the essential role of positive regard in fostering meaningful connections and addressing maladaptive behaviors. Through a blend of neuroscience, psychology, and personal anecdotes, he offers invaluable insights into the transformative potential engendered by this profound need.
