Mental Health First Aid is a public education program that introduces participants to risk factors and warning signs of mental illnesses, builds an understanding of their impact, and overviews common supports. This 8-hour course uses role-playing and simulations to demonstrate how to offer initial help in a mental health crisis and connect persons to the appropriate professional, peer, social, and self-help care. The program also teaches the common risk factors and warning signs of specific types of illnesses, like anxiety, depression, substance use, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, and schizophrenia.

A 15-minute break will be provided during training. Mental Health America of San Diego County follows the guidelines provided by the County of San Diego. If you are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms or flu-like symptoms, we encourage you to register for our Virtual training or return to attend the in-person training later. If you have any questions,  contact us at (619) 543-0412 ext. 113, 114 or 121.
