The La Jolla-Riford Library is proud to offer a two-week intensive seminar for parliamentary debate, designed for complete beginners. Through a lecture format and hands-on learning, members of local high school debate teams will prepare students for numerous practice rounds, culminating in a mini-debate competition open to the public. In this camp, debaters will learn basic principles of argumentation; parli structure and format; fact, value, and policy case types; and proficiency in public speaking. This program is geared towards middle and high school students looking for a leg up in high school debate or to gain a solid foundation in communication.
