Program Description

Event Details

Ever-growing DNA sequencing technologies in the post-genomics era have enabled us to unlock bacterial genetic information that was previously hidden. New insights range from what antibiotics the bacteria can produce, on which biological target(s) those antibiotics will act, and how virulent molecules are produced by some pathogens. These aspects will be discussed in this lecture, along with some of the ways that bacterial genomes are mined to ultimately benefit human health.

Speaker: Jie Li, Ph.D. (Postdoctoral Scholar, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UCSD).
