The Real Story About Monopoly. The old story that Parker Brothers liked to tell centered on an unemployed Depression-era steam mechanic inventing the game to feed his family. The real story involves a famous nineteenth-century tax theorist, rewriting the trademark laws, experts and tournaments, new editions, globalization, and collectors.
