Program Description

Event Details

One Book, One San Diego is a community reading program. The purpose of the program is to bring together our community and encourage residents to join together in the shared experience of reading and discussing the same book.

Stop by Rancho Peñsquitos Branch Library's display featuring the 2018 One Book, One San Diego selections:

  • March: Book One, a graphic memoir by Congressman John Lewis, Andrew Aydin and Nate Powell. The first in a series of three, March: Book One, is a vivid first-hand account of the early life of the Civil Rights icon, John Lewis, including meeting Martin Luther King, Jr. and the birth of the Nashville Student Movement.
  • The children's One Book, One San Diego title Blue Sky, White Stars, a picture book written by Sarvinder Naberhaus and illustrated by New York Times bestselling and Caldecott-honor winning artist Kadir Nelson. The deceptively simple verses pair with richly evocative images of American history, landscape, and people.
  • Limited copies of the 2018 titles are available at the display, as are copies of past year's One Book, One San Diego titles.

This display is part of the San Diego Public Library's programming for this year's One Book, One San Diego, where we will explore themes of civil rights, social justice, and discrimination.
