Our presenter will be Farmer Roy (Roy Wilburn) - Director of Horticulture for Poway Gardens

Farmer Roy will go over all aspects of the growing and care for tomatoes at home. He will discuss varietal selection, seeding, planting, cultural practices, pest control, fertilization and overall care of tomatoes.

For the past 14 years plus, Farmer Roy has been the Director of Horticulture for a memory care community, Poway Gardens, in Poway. Poway Gardens produces roughly 25,000 lbs. annually of organic fruits and vegetables for their residents’ dining pleasure . They also run a food bank garden for those in need in the Poway, RB and Rancho Penasquitos area. Horticulture Therapy sessions at Poway Gardens occur frequently to enrich the lives of their residents.

 The Paradise Gardeners is a 501(c)(3), tax exempt organization that contributes to Southeastern San Diego’s diverse communities in areas of civic engagement, tree planting and other improvements, and educating community members in the disciplines of home gardening.
