In time for the 50th anniversary of KGB FM radio, SDPL will screen a 5-part docuseries highlighting the pioneering history of KGB at the dawn of FM radio. This documentary series examines the evolution of the Progressive Rock Radio format (1960s-1980s) through the lens of San Diego radio station KGB-AM/FM.
For 50 years, KGB has dominated its radio market with innovative programming, promotions, DJs, and Morning Shows. This TV miniseries is a must-see for anyone interested in how a successful radio station, or any media outlet, should be run.

Production Team: Tony Butler (cinematographer, editor, co-producer) is a lifelong San Diegan. Tony is also a musician and has played in numerous bands in San Diego over last 50 years.
Raul Sandelin (director, writer, co-producer) is a lifelong San Diegan and English professor at Grossmont College in the San Diego suburb of El Cajon, CA.
Raul and Tony have produced three feature-length films: A Box Full of Rocks: The El Cajon Years of Lester Bangs, Ticket to Write: The Golden Age of Rock Music Journalism, and Throttle the Sun: The Odyssey of the Rock Star. Plus, they have written and produced numerous short films, videos, project treatments, and scripts.
