Program Description

Event Details

A play by Lisa Kirazian and directed by Delicia Turner Sonnenberg, Soul Fire combines theatre, music, and dance to depict the spiritual and physical voyages of San Diego immigrants.

Soul Fire shares the stories of San Diegans who immigrated from Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia, Sudan, Vietnam, China, Haiti, and Poland. Playwright Lisa Kirazian wove together over a dozen interviews to create Soul Fire, originally produced as a collaboration between Playwrights Project and San Diego Public Library. A brief talkback follows each performance.

Additionally, these performances will be the inaugural production of Playwrights Project’s Mosaic program, which features professional productions of plays drawn from underserved communities. Mosaic honors the spirit of Mo`olelo Performing Arts Company and the generosity of Mo`olelo supporters, who supported Mo`olelo’s work before it closed its doors.

Although these performances are free and open to the public, many folk already plan to attend and therefore reservations are required. Please RSVP by calling the listed number or online at: www.playwrightsproject.org
