Attention High School Teens! Need a dress for prom? The Princess Project San Diego is partnering with the Valencia Park/Malcolm X Library to hand out FREE prom dresses and accessories to participants. Just register and bring your school ID, or other proof of enrollment to the event.

Teens in 9th-12th grade are welcome, registration is required to guarantee a spot. Walk-ins will be limited each day.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who can get a dress? Any high school teen in grades 9—12 are eligible.

Are the dresses really free? What do I need to bring in order to be able to get a dress? Yes! Dresses are free! Participating teens must bring proof of current enrollment in high school.

Can I get more than one dress? Each teen participant may sign up for one (1) appointment only to select one (1) free prom dress and one (1) accessory only. Multiple registrations will be cancelled.

Do I have to register to get a dress? Can I just show up? Due to limited space, all teen participants should pre-register to reserve an entry time into the store. Your registration is your ticket inside to shop! (No need to print out your ticket; you can show a screen shot of it on your phone at check-in!)

Will you accept Walk-Ins? As space allows, we will accept walk-ins

Is there a time limit on shopping? Teens will have approximately 45 minutes, from check-in to check-out, to select their prom dress and accessory!

My friend needs to get a dress for prom—can I bring them with me to get a dress too? Each teen participant must sign up individually to attend. As long as your friend attends high school & also registers for the same timeslot, you can shop together!

Can I bring my mom/sister/family member/friends to come help me find a dress? Due to space limitations, you may bring only 1 guest with you. This guest would not need to register if they are not participating in the giveaway.

What if I have to cancel my appointment or reschedule?

If you need to reschedule your appointment, please go to your confirmation e-mail and cancel your registration so that another teen may sign up for that timeslot, as spots are very limited. If you cannot find your e-mail confirmation, please e-mail to let us know and we will cancel your appointment. You will then need to re-register for a different appointment time. Do not reserve multiple timeslots. Multiple registrations will be cancelled.
