Event Details

The Suicide Prevention Training is officially called the Question, Persuade, and Refer (QPR) Training. The QPR class is designed to give members of the general public the basic skills to:

  • Recognize suicide warning signs
  • How to initiate conversation
  • How to provide help and hope

This training is for anyone (ages 18 and up) in a position to recognize that someone may be contemplating suicide such as: parents, friends, and teachers. This training is recommended for people who are part of or serve at-risk populations like military/veterans, LGBTQ, transition age youth (ages 14-25), school staff, and community members.

The QPR Gatekeeper Trainings are funded by the County of San Diego HHSA, and are offered at no cost to attendees on behalf of the San Diego County Suicide Prevention Council. This training is offered as part of San Diego Public Library's 2019 Mental Health Resource Fair.
