"Without Warning" is a historical novel based on the true story of the sinking of the Athenia from the perspective of eight people: six passengers, Athenia’s chief officer, and the commander of the German U-boat. The story is personal as Sanger’s grandmother was aboard the ill-fated ship and survived the German torpedo attack in 1939, hours after the war’s official start.

Author of the Month meets the first Saturday of every month. For more information about the Friends of the Central Library please visit their website: sdfocl@org.
