THE MAIN EVENT: ANNUAL WHITE ELEPHANT SALE.

The way this works is you are invited to bring in items that will be donations to the club. These items will be auctioned one at a time or in lots to the highest bidder. The proceeds of each sale are retained by the club for use in buying prizes, or covering various costs that may be incurred by the club, such as ANA dues and awards. Subject to how much we make in the White Elephant Sale, we hope to procure some nice door prizes to give out at our upcoming Officer's Installation Dinner in January.

Subject to time permitting following the White Elephant Sale, we may also entertain Show & Tell, but as we are constrained to exit the room before 8 o'clock, presentations will be at the discretion of the president. Therefore, feel free to bring items to show; you may get to tell us about them if time allows.

Last month, and for the first time, our club's election of officers coincided with a General Election. Each of the current officers has agreed to remain in office another year, and their positions were confirmed by White ballot. However, we did not have a candidate for each office, and so the office of Secretary remains open. This means that currently nobody takes minutes for the club. If anyone would like to volunteer to fulfill the duties of Club Secretary, please let any of the club officers know, as we would gladly welcome you as a new member of the board. In the meantime, Wayne, Richard and Andrew will continue to serve the club to the best of their capacity.

Our appreciation is extended to those individuals that have helped in unofficial capacities, namely Debbi Montisano for providing fresh baked snacks each month, and Andrew Carmen for brewing fresh coffee and acting as our liaison to the library.

The Club extends a Congratulations and Happy Birthday to Kay Lenker on the occasion of her 100th birthday this past week.  Kay is a retired Captain in the U.S. Navy. In the field of numismatics she has distinguished herself and earned many honors. Among them include the Goodfellow Award and two Glenn Smedley Awards from the American Numismatic Association, wherein she served on the Board of Governors several terms.  She has also served as an officer with CSNA as well as NASC and has been awarded the Medal of Merit three times by the San Diego County Inter-Club Numismatic Council.  For many years she served as Bourse Chair for the COINARAMA, before turning that position over to Steve Fahrlender.

We are collecting dues now for 2023, so if you haven't already done so, please consider paying at the meeting this month.  Despite the high rate of inflation that we're all experiencing, annual dues remain a nominal $6.  That's invariably one of the best deals going in numismatics today.

Have you finished your Christmas shopping?  If not, maybe you'll find that perfect gift for yourself or another at our White Elephant Sale.  Our next meeting will come to order Tuesday December 13 at 6 P.M.
