Program Description

Event Details

Presented by Carrie Schneider, PhD, Advisor at Pfenex, Inc.

The high price of drugs makes headlines on a weekly basis and is a source of concern of many patients.  Analogous to a generic drug, a biosimilar is a medicine that is highly similar to a medicine that’s already approved by the FDA. Unlike generics, biosimilars are complex molecules made in a genetically engineered organism.  Dr. Schneider will describe how biosimilars are manufactured, gaining physician and patient acceptance, and whether they are fulfilling their promise to reduce drug prices.
