With 20 in attendance last month, we had a good turn out for our August meeting.  The theme for our meeting this month will be: COINS WITH RAYS.

Ideas for such coins include the Peace Dollar, the Saint Gaudens Double Eagle, 1853 Seated Liberty coins, and 1856 -1857 Shield nickels with rays.  There are invariably other coins that include rays on either the obverse or reverse, and we look forward to seeing whatever coins you can find.

Sometimes we get some good ideas from the floor for other things we could do--like have name tags or a sign in sheet.  These are things we have done in the past, but don’t do anymore.  Is that something we want? We’ve been without a Secretary this year, and if someone wishes to step into that role, they would be the perfect person to attend to these little extras.

We thank Andrew Carmen for supplying us with coffee, and Debby Montisano for her delicious homemade brownies.  Is there something you might like to contribute to the club?  Sometimes it's suggested we need to do more to promote the club. Remember, we are all ambassadors of our numismatic community. Everyone is at liberty to spread the word, bring a friend, and introduce them to our great hobby.

For those looking for a little more coin collecting action and willing to take a road trip, the Long Beach Numismatic Expo will be in full swing at the end of this month, running September 29 - October 1 at the Long Beach Convention Center.

In the meantime, we look forward to seeing everyone for our next meeting of the Coineers Coin Club on Tuesday, September 13th at 6 o’clock.
