José Rodriguez will perform a program called "The Guitar Through the Centuries."

Julian Arcas/Verdi:  Fantasy on Themes from "La Traviata”

Francisco Tarrega:  Capricho Arabe

Leo Brouwer:  Danza del Altiplano

José Luis Merlin:  Suite del Recuerdo

 

José Rodriguez holds a bachelor’s and master’s in music from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where he studied with David Tannenbaum. He is a former faculty member of the School of Arts at the University in Ensanada, B.C. (UABC), where he taught for nine years. He has won several awards from competitions, including third prize in Mexico’s Concurso Nacional de Guitarra de Paracho, first prize at the biannual Guitar Concerto Competition held at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and third prize at Cal State Dominguez Hills Guitar Competition. Mr. Rodriguez has taught privately in San Diego since 2007, and is a part of the Access Initiative program at Villa Musica.
