Ikebana is the Japanese art of flower arrangement. It is more than simply putting flowers in a container. It is a disciplined art form that breathes life into each composition, harmonizing the elements of nature and humanity.

Get crafty at the library every week! Each week there will be a unique craft that is fun for all ages. All supplies will be provided.

Colleen does not belong to quilting or art guilds but considers herself an artist and prefers to work alone. She made a quilt for her husband 50 years ago for a wedding present and has been quilting ever since!

Holi, also known as the Festival of Colors, is a two day Hindu festival celebrated in India to mark the arrival of Spring and the victory of good over evil.

Celebrate St. Patrick’s day with a fun leprechaun craft. Use your hand print to make a whimsical leprechaun face and decorate it with a big, green, hat! While supplies last.

Join us on the Patio outside the children's room for arts and crafts after school every Wednesday at 2pm.

Activities are designed for school age children.  Young kids may require parent assistance.

Create beautiful patterns and designs through the processes of creating “canes” with colorful polymer clay. Working on a smaller scale, this process teaches pattern and design sculpturally that can be achieved through cutting and slicing.

Zentangle is a form of meditative art that involves creating intricate designs using repetitive patterns. It is a way to help people focus, relax, and find inner peace through drawing.

Cyanotypes, or sun prints, are pieces of fabric or paper that are coated with photosensitive formula to produce a monochrome, blue colored print using UV Rays from the sun and water.

Holi is a Hindu festival, often called the "Festival of Colors," to mark the arrival of spring. Join us in celebrating this colorful holiday with henna tattoo and a fun color shooter craft.

Flower Power with Recycle Art

We bring the arts and crafts, pots, soil, craft sticks, construction paper, and seeds. Participants get to create a mystical fairy garden wonderland in a gardening pot, fill their pot up with soil, and plant their seeds.

As part of our monthly (or in the case of March bimonthly) art class series with ArtReach, come learn how to create a ceramic puzzle box with the help of teaching artists and a bit of your own problem solving skills. 

Join the Legler Benbough Teen IDEA Lab for Maker Mondays, every 2nd and 4th Monday at 4pm. Each session the IDEA Lab team will focus on a different design project and will highlight a piece of technology found within our lab.

Join us every second Monday for an entertaining book club where we’ll discuss a great kids book, do a related craft, and enjoy snacks.

Calling all artists!

Join us every Tuesday from 5-5:30pm for Create! At the Library, featuring a new craft each week. This program is for youth aged 5-11, that will develop fine motor skills and creativity. 

Bring your ideas to life at our Mobile Maker Lab in the Mission Hills-Hillcrest Library. Learn to use various programs and equipment  such as our 3D printer and die cut machine powered by Silhouette Studio.

Registration is required and will open on February 10 at noon. Space is limited, early sign-up is encouraged.
