Unnatural History: Long Perspectives of the Tijuana Estuary

Guest Speaker: Dr. Jeffrey Crooks
Date & Time: Saturday, January 24th, at 1:30pm
Where We Meet: In Person or by Zoom to persons on our mailing list

The Tijuana Estuary, where the Tijuana River meets the Pacific Ocean, is one of the largest and most intact coastal wetlands in Southern California. Its location between two major metropolitan areas has profoundly shaped its condition. The creation of the Tijuana River National Estuarine Research Reserve more than 40 years ago established this area as a living laboratory. Long term “vital signs” monitoring allows tracking of how the system responds to pressures of sediment, pollutants, and trash that the water carries.
