Focuses on the use of art as a creative expression and a therapeutic process.  Utilizes a variety of art media to promote self-expression, to develop coping skills, and to mediate emotional and physical challenges and limitations. 

Please join us for storytime and craft every Saturday morning in the Children's Area at 10:00AM. 

Visit the library on Saturday & create a terrific craft. All supplies provided! 

Ikebana is the Japanese art of flower arrangement. It is more than simply putting flowers in a container. It is a disciplined art form that breathes life into each composition, harmonizing the elements of nature and humanity.

This adult art class features drawing and painting while enjoying music and socializing with others. No previous experience is needed. All supplies provided.

Sign ups are required and will start on March 20 at noon.  Space is limited.

Our April artist, Katherine (Katie) Kennedy is an emerging La Mesa artist who specializes in oil painting. Katie likes to use a high-chroma palette to capture objects and scenes from everyday life.

Bring your current project and crochet along with our library staff. Want to learn how to crochet? We'll supply the materials to teach you. Stuck on a project or have questions? We'll help you with it. Knitters are also welcome!

Creative Collective promotes wellness and enrichment through art-making experiences. Join our open-ended art-making program where you are free to be creative and expressive with many different forms of art!

Join us on the Patio outside the children's room for arts and crafts after school every Wednesday at 2pm.

Activities are designed for school age children.  Young kids may require parent assistance.

Providing enrichment for our animal friends is incredibly important! During this monthly program you can help us make fun and easy enrichment items for homeless animals at our local Humane Society. 

Join us for a drop-in crafting party to build your Peeps diorama of a scene from a book or movie of your choice. A limited number of kits, including a box and package of Peeps, will be available, as well as various craft supplies.

Join this drop-in knitting group where knitters of all skill levels meet and knit. Bring your work in progress and share in the knitting community.

Learn to knit or bring your WIP's.  Materials will be provided. 

Learn, play, and create with LEGOs!

Children can build with LEGOs and display their creations in the library.

Learn about bugs and other insects as you sculpt them out of clay. For ages 5 and up.

ArtQuest Quarterly is a fun and exciting workshop designed for youth aged 5 and older - led by the Art Educators from the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego. This April will be a sculptural project.

 Let's get creative with Perler Beads! You can make keychains, coasters, necklaces, bracelets, or ornaments by creating any designs using little beads bonded together with heat.  It's easy, lots of fun, and even meditative.

Come to the library for a hands-on art workshop which is part of a monthly art series. A new medium and new techniques will be used every month.

Join us this month to make your own bird feeder.

All materials are provided, this is a first come, first served basis, while supplies last.

Miss Miki teaches kiddos how to make fun and seasonal crafts to take home and enjoy! (Children Ages 6 - 12)

Join us every Tuesday from 5-5:30pm for Create! At the Library, featuring a new craft each week. This program is for youth aged 5-11, that will develop fine motor skills and creativity.

Bring your ideas to life at our Mobile Maker Lab in the Mission Hills-Hillcrest Library. Learn to use various programs and equipment  such as our 3D printer and die cut machine powered by Silhouette Studio.
